President’s Message

June 2020

Dear Nassau Point Neighbors,

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  I’m Al Martinez-Fonts, the new president of the Nassau Point Property Owners Association.  It’s hard to believe that the Summer of 2019 is “in the books” as they say.  It’s been another great Summer in Nassau Point with lots of activity taking place.  We replenished the sand at the Causeway Beach, had a wonderful Wine and Cheese Party at Denis O’Leary’s house (thanks again Denis), a full house for the annual meeting where we heard our Town officials tell us what’s going on and what they are doing to help our community, a great beach and right of way clean up and many other activities.

Whether you’ve lived here all your life or came this year, the NPPOA welcomes you and hopes you will build your own memories here.  Among the most cherished memories for my family has been the sense of community that you develop on the Point.  The idea that this place belongs to all of us and that we hope to leave it just a little bit better than we found it.

Over the winter we will be working on several issues to continue to improve Nassau Point.  We will continue to work on improving our rights of way and ensuring that they are all accessible to everyone in Nassau Point.  There are a number of drainage projects that we are working on with the Town.  And, we have set up a Task Force to look at the exploding kayak population on our beaches and rights of way. On my last count at Fisherman’s Beach there were 39 kayaks stored there (most of them never seeming to be used) reducing the area where one can place a chair and an umbrella!  More on this topic in the Spring.  Having said that, we really can’t get anything done without you, our members.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing board members:  Jack Barthel, Joe Flotteron, Jim Marlin, Michelle Lewis, Rob Lehnert and my predecessor Harry Kutner for all the great work they did over the past few years.  I would like to welcome the new board members: Caroline Riley, Noreen Fisher, Bob Walters, Dave Bergen, Susan Brewster and Angelo Mangia.  Please feel free to contact any one of us on the board with ideas, questions, suggestions or whatever is on your mind.
